Recent developments in phosphorus based flame retardant coatings for textiles: Synthesis, applications and performance

Textiles contain a high content of carbon and hydrogen in their structure which provides the fuel for combustion therefore are hazardous case fire accident. A suitable flame retardant (FR) treatment textiles is common practice safe applications. Although plenty well-known effective FR systems already known textile applications, there need to develop new environmental friendly agents treatments meet existing technical requirements. Thus, development phosphorus based compounds application has been major focus academia industry. This review summarizes recent reports (last 5 years) on preparation various natural synthetic via coating methodology. The reported literature typically addresses improvement efficiency by synergistic interaction with other environmentally acceptable elements such as nitrogen, silicon, sulfur boron thus addressed detail this review. • Phosphorus retardants were reviewed. Synthesis strategies novel was illustrated. influence heteroatoms retardancy discussed. Fire behavior properties coated fabrics summarized.
